USEFUL
Everyday cup for tea or a long coffee.
UNIQUE
The photos above are not contractual for the following reasons:
This type of cup is made in very small batches. Each piece is created in the same spirit, but the dimensions and shape may vary slightly, giving each one its own uniqueness. It is therefore impossible to produce two that are strictly identical. A set of several cups creates an original, “mismatched” collection, while still maintaining a strong aesthetic unity.
It is made of porcelain and fired at a high temperature of 1300°C. It is finely hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel. As a form of decoration, porcelain slip is applied using a flat spatula. The inside of the cup has a glossy, transparent glaze. The exterior is left in unglazed porcelain, with a soft, smooth surface. The result is an extraordinary interplay of light and shadow, enhanced by the translucency of the porcelain.
PICTORIAL
Free from conventional decoration, the surfaces are nonetheless highly pictorial. The alternation of smooth areas and ridges catches the light and, depending on the direction from which the light falls, reveals unexpected shades of white.
SENSORY
Beyond the visual aspect of the piece, its tactile surface says much about how it was made… the undulations created by hand on the potter’s wheel and the exterior surface of raw porcelain, reminiscent of the texture of skin. Pot against skin—the connection is unmistakable!
DURABLE
Thanks to the composition of the glaze inside the cup and the exceptional hardness of porcelain, this ceramic is fully suitable for food use. It is completely watertight and non-porous. It is perfectly resistant to both dishwasher use and microwave heating. Only a severe impact could potentially damage it.
Depending on the tannin content of the beverages consumed, such as coffee or certain teas, a natural patina may develop on the inner surface after some time of use. Some people will prefer to keep it, while others may choose to remove it using baking soda.
